During the early part of the 20th century, the property that is currently Kelly’s Brighton Marina was actually a lumber mill. During World War One, Brighton Mill produced more spruce for U.S. aircraft than any other mill in the country. After a devastating fire broke out in the community across the railroad tracks (now Highway 101) from the mill in 1924, most residents left and the mill ceased operations by 1926.
Over the course of the century, what was then referred to as Brighton Moorage, changed hands many times. Eventually, Kelly and Janice Laviolette purchased the property in 2010, and through hard work and a unique vision, transformed it into what it has become today! After a decade of drastically improving the property and building a loyal customer base, Kelly and Janice have retired and sold Kelly’s Brighton Marina to Colin and Randi Davis and their vibrant young family in July 2021. The Laviolettes have left a beautiful, fun legacy that the Davis Family are thrilled and devoted to continue for many years to come!
At Kelly’s, you can rent a boat to go crabbing, crab from the dock, dig for clams across the bay, buy fresh crab, clams and oysters, camp in a tent or a waterfront RV site, or just stop in for information from our friendly staff and to check out the awesome marina store!
